AHC/WI: Spain joins... the Allies?

Let's say at some point during WW2, Franco correctly predicted an Axis defeat, and thus started secret negotiations with the Allies in exchange for some favorable terms from them (economic aid, political concessions, etc.). How does this affect the war?

Not at all because it won't be before Normandy is a success. He simply could not handle a serious German attack. So after the collapse of the German position in France would be the earliest it could happen.

Most likely Spain pulls a Turkey, but it's plausible that after the Allies take Paris that Spain might join. But Spain didn't have much to offer. Spain had been wrecked by the civil war and wasn't in fighting condition, all they could offer were things the Allies already had, some ships, some troops, some airfields, some ports, etc. So Spain's impact was not going to be meaningful in anyway and the Allies would know this, they are only going to accept Spanish help to make sure Spanish help to Germany stops. Anyways, what is going to be interesting is Spain's role in the Cold War. Though they wouldn't have made much of a difference in the war, politically Spain will be in a completely different position. This probably leads to some boons of sorts, but don't expect anything like Security Council.

On a related note this deals a hammer blow to the remaining Republican resistance in Spain who were clinging to the hope that the Wallies might liberate them too.

They were never a force to be reckoned with, mainly small groups of near-bandits by now, but it is a consequence.

Likewise, Post-War, maybe more Spanish Republicans in Exile see the Soviet Union as their only sympathetic home in Europe after dealing with another "betrayal" from the West. Could shape Spanish politics in interesting ways after Franco dies if a large number of parties in exile have spent formative years in Soviet Union...
