AHC/WI: Romani in China

How could Romani get to China, and what effects would this have on Chinese culture? How would they be viewed and what would they be called?

You mean how long until they were assimilated into Chinese culture with minimal impact? The thing is China is massive melting pot, historically it is the only place in the world that has assimilated the reclusive Jewish immigrants. Also they would probably be called a bastardized version of Ro-man-niA-zen; (Romani people)-that or some version of vagrant, wander, or whatever.

Wasn't there a study a few years back on whether or not there was some Roman blood in some people in parts of Mongolia or something?

There was. Or, article about some village inhabitants claiming to be ancestors of lost Roman soldiers. but I am not sure if any scientific methods prove that or dismissed the claim.

Edit: Here are few articles and discussion on Axis History forum

Well, there were already several groups in the Middle Kingdom that managed to fill the wandering performer/mystic/repairman in caravans bill, most famously the Hakka.
