AHC/WI/POD: Ba'athists and the West like and support Each other

Have Saddam focus on being anti Iranian.

If you can find the video of his execution, while he's being strung up for the gallows, he mocks the guards by asking them "Are you Persian?"

So, in your very last seconds of life, if you're still obsessing over the perfidious neighbours to the east, that does seem to show a certain dedicaction to the theme. Might not have spilled over into Iraqi foreign-policy enough to make a difference, however.

I have been thinking of this. How would the Ba'athists in the Middle East do if they and West were mutually friendly?

You mean like, what if the US was pleased by the Ba'athist coup in Iraq in 1963 that brought Saddam Hussein's cousin Ahmed Hassan al-Bakr to power?

"Although it may not have organized the coup, U.S. officials were undoubtedly pleased with the outcome, ultimately approving a $55 million arms deal with Iraq and urging America's Arab allies to oppose a Soviet-sponsored diplomatic offensive accusing Iraq of genocide against its Kurdish minority at the United Nations (UN) General Assembly..." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramadan_Revolution
