AHC/WI: natives/pre-Malays of Southeast Asia survive in greater numbers

How could the pre-Malay inhabitants of Southeast Asia survive in greater numbers? What would the effect of this be?

If possible, the pre-Austronesians but that might be impossible.

Some pretty different cultures would arise. Depends on where Malays go, and what happens to there neighbors. Assuming a similar culture arises in India and China, southeast Asia would probably be highly influenced by them. So many butterflies though. It would be interesting to see a TL on this, or similar population developments take different courses than OTL, especially this far back. Lands of Red and Gold kinda show this with just Australian Aborigines having developed an agricultural and urban society.

When did the Malays move into the region? I know there are still some hill tribes in Northeast India that have been there since essentially forever.

The Vietnamese moved in from South China around 300 BC, right? I know the Bamar (the Burmese people) moved into the Irrawaddy Valley around the 800s.

Cheers,

Well it depends- Malay culture was heavily Indianised so even if you have Negrito cultures still dominant in the region they'd still be likely candidates for Indianisation
