AHC/WI: Napoleonic Wars end at Tilsit. What's next?

How will Napoleon secure a lasting peace after signing the Treaty of Tilsit? Assuming that Napoleon decides that he's already tired with wars and starts to focus on securing his position in France for his future heir, how will this affect the empire? And what happens to Europe afterwards?

Unfortunately it wasn't really up to Napoleon. Nearly every war fought against him was instigated by his enemies. You'd have to somehow get them to be comfortable with a lasting peace, which might be difficult considering revanchist sentiments in the various powers and displeasure with French domination of Europe. You also have to somehow get Britain to stop funneling gold to anyone willing to field armies against Napoleon.

Completely ASB. The Treaty with Prussia ensured that Prussia would not rest until Prussia was restored and Nappy was gone. And the treaty with the Russians provided for a continued Napoleonic Wars.
And if Nappy doesn't invade Russia, what CAN tiny Prussia do?

To make Tilsit work, maybe either have have Nappy understand more about economics and not impose the Continental system.

You are right about Russia but wrong about Prussia. Prussia was a second-rank power at that time. Only the disaster of the russian campaign in 1812 enabled Prussia, when and only when the russian army came in, to get rid of its napoleonic chains.

So the question is : how does Napoleon gets a lasting peace with Russia ?

Since in fact tsar Alexander wanted his revenge war, the solution was not concluding the Tilsitt treaty but snatching russian Poland away in the summer of 1807.

The Treaty of Tilsit actually allied Russia to him and encouraged Russia to war upon the British and Swedes which is why the Napoleonic Wars would go on. Alexander at the time was not interested in arevenge war he practically in love with Napoleon. The man was very caprious. One moment it was, Yeah Napoleon, the other it was Napoleon=Antichrist.

Napoleon could continue to Poland, Benningsen would have lost command to a different commander because of Friedland. But i doubt a commander cautious enough within the army had the prestige to be given the command. And I think Kutusov was in Russia, because I doubt Alexander would ahve allowed him in his presence after Austerlitz (which was really Alexander's fault). So Nappy would continue and beat the Russians some more and liberate Poland. After that sues for peace and gains a free Poland. But with a free Poland, comes more Napoleonic Wars. Austria cannot have a big free Poland, considering it owns considerable Polish lands, Russia won't stand for it, Britain still has cash, the Bourbons in Italy still want Naples, and so on.

The story of Alexander being petrified of admiration for Napoleon is one of the best exemples of Napoleon self-intoxicating with his own excessive pride. The private letters of Alexander tell a completely different story. He outsmarted Napoleon who needed almost 3 years to understand and admit that he had been fooled by Alexander.

The poin is that in summer 1807, alter Friedland, Alexander had no reserve army. He expected to have to pay a huge price for fighting Napoleon and being his more uncompromizing enemy for almost 4 years. And It was a divine surprise for him (which means an enormous mistake from Napoleon) not to have giving away any territory.

Austria did not carte about a free Poland and was ready to give away its galician province in exchange for other territories
