How would Mussolini and Fascism be viewed today had Italy joined forces with Britain and France during WWII? To achieve this, let's assume that Mussolini doesn't invade Ethiopia (or at least doesn't break international law by employing poison gas), cultivates a stronger relationship with the OTL allies rather than join Hitler's Comnitern Pact. Remember, Mussolini originally despised Hitler, and even more so after the assassination of Dolffuss just before Hitler's annexation of Austria.
Here's a few questions:
1) How long would Mussolini stay in power?
2) Would Fascism (Mussolini style) continue to be considered a respectable, if not mainstream ideology?
3) If Mussolini dies, who (or what) succeeds him?
