AHC/WI: Longest lasting Jewish Kingdom

Have the Kingdom of Israel last as long as humanly possible. What effects would that have on the region? What about on history as a whole? Is there any realistic areas for expansion with the rise of Assyria and Babylonia?

Unfortunately, the position of Israel, being between Egypt and the rest of Mesopotamia, will make it very tempting for any expansionist empire in the region.

Maybe it remains a vassal instead of being conquered outright?

What about making the kingdom of the Omrides an expansionist empire in its own right?

Of course, it'd be a very different culture to the Jews as we know them. A far more cosmopolitan kingdom, with syncretism of Yahweh with many other gods, and with Samaria at the heart of it.

It'd be more likely they just genocide anyone who doesn't bow to their skyfriend since they were extremely well known for that to the point it freaked out other neighboring realms.

Well, there may be obstacles to such expansion. By the time the Omrides ruled Israel, the Neo-Assyrian Empire dominated Mesopotamia. The entire reign of the Omrides dynasty, from Omri's ascension to Joram's death, occurred during an Assyrian golden age.

You underestimate the amount of syncretism actually going on during the time of the kingdom of Israel, before, during, and after the time of the Omrides. There's a reason Jezebel was condemned by the prophets of the time, and it wasn't for being a literal whore. There was a definite tension between the worship of Yahweh alone and both the Baal worship of the Phoenician kingdoms and the paganism of the countryside, especially in the northern kingdom.

Right. Hm... What if the kingdoms of the Levant somehow remain united against the Assyrian threat, and slowly coalesce into a single hegemony centered on Samaria?

Hm. So is it possible for Assyria to collapse earlier, like with the collapse of the empire after the death of Ashurbanipal? Like maybe, Ashurnasirpal II and his heirs are struck down by a plague, and Assyrian dominance in the west is aborted? Or maybe Shalmaneser III is killed in the battle of Qarqar, allowing King Ahab to survive for longer and keep his line on the throne of Israel?

A far more intelligent King Solimon would be the first key - within a generation of his death, his nation split into two Kingdoms and dividing the nation was the beginning of the end. A truly intelligent King Solimon would have headed off the Jeroboam's Revolt in its infancy.

Isn't it widely believed that the biblical "United Kingdom" wasn't actually a real thing in OTL? i.e. lack of secondary sources from neighboring historians referencing it
