AHC/WI: Developed radio & motion picture technology by end of 19th century

Hello, AlternateHistory.com! I'm a long-time lurker, first time poster, and I've decided to finally make a post. I hope to have lots of great interactions here!

So, I'm using the term "developed" loosely here, but what I basically mean is, how can radios and motion pictures have been developed to OTL early-mid 20th century levels, by the end of the 19th century? By the end of 1899, how can we have radio be widespread throughout developed nations, and how can we have talking cinema be a major, mainstream cultural force by then? And, perhaps as a bonus, what time is the earliest that television could have been introduced and made mainstream? The earlier, the better.

Furthermore, what would happen with an earlier dawning of the Media Age? How would it effect culture (as artists of the time period would seek to use the new media to express the concerns prevelant in that time period), public life (as information could be accessed relatively quickly by wireless), and politics (as earlier leaders would have to figure out how to take advantage of fledgling mass media, as they did in OTL)? This would not only include the immediate effects during the earlier rise of media technology in the 19th century (or perhaps, somehow, earlier!), but also its long-term effects after the turn of the 20th century.

Sorry if I sound simplistic; I don't know much about the subject matter, but I hope to learn a lot.

Welcome to the board!

I'm not an expert but I promise to do some searching and get back to this thread for you, as I'm interested in the premise.

EDIT: Also, I'm your inaugural board welcomer! I am obligated to get back to you with piles of links and information! Just lemme get some sleep first.
