Agreed. But considering the explosion of racist xenophobia over Barack Obama, I doubt that anyone this side of a Canadian or Briton born American citizen wouldn't face similar problems. I suspect that even an Irish born American citizen would face opposition research doing one-handed handsprings and backflips of illogic trying to "prove" said candidate's/POTUS' connections (even if by remote family members) to the IRA or Nor-Aid. And if Protestant Irish instead, to the UVF and Paisleyite Marching Societies!
