AHC: Whole Foods Goes "Extreme"

(Note: this is a "cross post" of sorts in that I also made a thread of this as a Future History Challenge; I hope this isn't against the rules.)

Your challenge--at any point in time prior to today, have Whole Foods go in a "puritanical" direction in some manner--no more red meat products or only fish (or they go vegan completely), no more saturated fats or added sugar of any sort, only low-fat/skim dairy items, nothing that has been in any way fried, et cetera.

This can come about any way you want it--John Mackey has an "epiphany" that he forces on his Board of Directors, there is substantial public demand for such a radical turn, a lucrative endorsement partnership with Dr. Joel Fuhrmann or someone similar--you name it, you make it work! ;)

--Bonus points if this happens before 2010.
--Mega bonus points if Whole Foods' market share/sales volume is not significantly off from theirs of OTL at the present date (end of 2015).
--Uber ultra bonus points if they set a trend and other alternative/quasi-"healthy" chains like Sprouts, Trader Joe's, Gelson's, etc. follow suit.

Have fun!

Have organic never really take off and prevent the furore over GMOs. Then have Whole Foods market themselves towards conservative Christians.

Explain more, please. Evangelical Christians don't generally adhere to much in the way of dietary rules with the exception of sects like the Adventists and Messianics, etc.

Wouldn't it be easier to get practicing Jews into the fold?
