AHC Wank Julius Nepos as much possible

The title says all and to be frank, there is not so much to add

Stating the obvious, the objective is to have the most succesfully Julius nepos with a PoD after the fall of Ravenna. I don't think this is going to help, but he had control over dalmatia, and it was the province were the romans had most of their military manpower base at the time

Anyway, i think having Julius Nepos not appoint Flavius Orestes to the position of Magister Militum would be a good PoD, as it would avoid the payment crisis with the heruli (since Orestes emplyed the, in his coup) and, thus, the final fall of Rome to the barbarians. However, since you specified that the PoD has to be after Orestes is appointed, then i don't know how to make the situation any more favourable to Nepos from Dalmatia.

Odoacer does something stupid like give the Imperial Insignia to the Bishop of Rome, as discussed in another thread?

Maybe Nepos could be informed of Glycerius and Ovida's plot at the last minute, thereby ending any immdiate threat to his life and (hopefully) allowing him time to get a good chance at fighting Odoacer, provided Odie doesn't keep on trying to kill him.

Maybe if Zeno has fewer problems, he could decide to support Nepos' claim to the Western Empire instead of just accepting its dissolution as a fait accompli?

Nepos avoids his assassination just in time and manages to consolidate his powerbase in Dalmatia. He lives to see Theoderic invade Italy on behalf of Zeno. In an attempt to improve his tarnished reputation, Zeno stipulates that Theoderic must restore Nepos as Emperor in Ravenna. Theoderic accepts, but in a way very typical of him places Nepos as a puppet in Ravenna. Theoderic in this timeline decides to reside in Pavia instead of Ravenna in order to maintain the legal fiction that Nepos is in charge, and mints coins in Nepos' name. Nepos, becoming increasingly old and senile softens up to Theoderic and remains a fairly loyal puppet of him. Once Nepos dies either Anastasius or Theoderic pick a successor who may or may not become more independent (I.e Anthemius).

This is the most plausible way I can wank Nepos if the goal is to get him back into Italy. How this affects Justinian's reconquest is hard to say.
