AHC:Vijayanagar Wank

Alright, there's one big empire on India, who is quite strong, that we called the "Vijayanagar".

Now,your challenge here is to WANK them to the point that is nearly ASB.

What does it take?

If the Battle of Talikota is a decisive victory, which is not too much of a stretch with some minor meddling in the events leading up to it (such as removing Muslims from the Vijayangar Army), then Vijayanagara would have established a firmer grip on the Subcontinent. With care and a good deal of luck, it could have definitely been a power for the British/Portuguese/French/Dutch etc. to deal with.

Hey,Talikota is a hard thing, pal. The Deccan got cannons.

I think a much more worthwhile Wank would be for Vijayanagar to not expand so much as it gains economic importance and relevance, for example a series of naval breakthroughs allow them to be major players in the Indian ocean trade, you could probably engineer a situation where Vijayanagar is an equal of most European states.

So did Vijayanagar.
And..Wikipedia says "no."

Equal? On what terms?

They employed Turkish gunners. Weaker than those of the Muslim forces- but they did have cannonry and artillery.

And Vijayanagar has a fairly long history- you could have a POD fairly early on resulting in it being the Indian Ocean power.
