So, there was a timeline awhile back where the USA was a Central Power in WW1, and I was wondering, how could they have become one? I heard that, when the war began, a large portion of the (mostly German and Irish-American) population in general supported the central powers while wealthy families typically favored the Entente for economic reasons (although, overall, the USA did not care that much at first), so how could various countries' economic policies (and the election) be caused to tip the balance in favor of the US as a Central Power (keep in mind that my impression of the popular opinion is based on hearsay and not any actual historical articles I read - it may be wrong)? What could cause American foreign policy to tip in favor of the Central Powers even if this hearsay isn't actually factual? Who could become president that would cause a Central Power-aligned America?
How could this happen?
