AHC: United Serbo-Croatian Culture

You know I was thinking that if the region was united for a few centuries prior to Ottoman rule (maybe even able to resist it as vassals like Hungary did) that a united Slav culture could emerge, maybe even thrive.

The tricky part would be religion, with the lands closer to western Europe tending to be Catholic, and the regions more influenced by Byzantium being Orthodox, and the Ottoman's converting other's to Islam, there'd ultimately have to be one religion that emerged as dominant...

What if the region became a haven for Unitarians? They could have fled from Poland and Transylvania and launched a 'Quiet Conversion' of the region that could make it, if not the largest faith, certainty a large minority and something of a go-between for the different Serb faithgroups.
