AHC: United China After the Revolution

Basically in the title but what series of events could lead up to China either completely missing out a Civil War, or to avoid it for the most part? The split between Northern and Southern China led to a series of conflicts that spanned well over a decade and led to oppressions, thousands upon thousands of deaths and the eventual outcome of the Communist Party taking over.

So what would lead to all this being avoided and a united China happening? Although I realise that just because it'd be united, doesn't mean that it'd lead to a happier result in the long term.

There was no split between northern and southern China lasting for over a decade, I'm not sure exactly what you are talking about. There were splits sure, but not in the way you are talking about.

The Cliques and Warlords then. Just reading a biography on Mao that sort of skirts around the Civil War so I was just saying what the book seemed to point to.
