AHC: U.S. has LOWEST income inequality in the developed world

I am Not advocating that, but restricting Immigration fiercely might Be a Trick. It might also have negative consequences, But Change the Labour market without a steady influx of People to fill the lowest and worst-paid Level of Jobs, These will either Not come up, Be better paid or Be sourced out abroad.

The downside is that we might have a smaller market of... Let me say 290 Million Americans in *2012.

I think you're on to something although the economic and social butterflies will be massive.

Definitely- that is the Fun of it. Any Diskussion on that would unfortunately Become more ideological than economical.

However, a political Move Born out off isolationism, Paranoia, Xenophobia and perhaps racism seems more probable than "Social-democratic" solutions. :)

There are plenty of ways to make the level of income inequality lower than it currently is but you would need a revolution or radical reform to the economic system to make it the lowest.

you'd need much more centrist political parties along the lines of european Social Democrats

you'd also need to address access inequity and price control / universal coverage in healthcare

I think avoiding Vietnam would help as would strengthening the Unions

Labour unions do not aid in the reduction of economic inequality, arguably you need 19th century paternalistically minded Big business men , like Lever, Salt or Cadbury .

putting too much reliance on labour unions just moves inequalities away to the roles outside the union's scope of influence and can provide a barrier to progression if the only way to develop in an industry is to be tithed by the union for the privelege of working in the closed shop ...

That's complete bullshit. Higher wages for workers means a less unequal economy.
