AHC: Turn Great Britain into a European "North Korea"

In the novel 1984, It's speculated that the claim three superstates that makeup the governments of the world is a lie and that "Oceania" is only contained to the British Isles and essentially a European North Korea.

So the challenge here, with a PoD after 1900, is to have a oppressive, totalitarian, security state on the level of modern North Korea arise in Great Britain. This state must make up the whole of Great Britain.

Might I recommend Images of 1984 by @Will Ritson, which does an excellent job of making this scenario happen. It's not fully fleshed out but it very convincingly gets you much of the way to a full-fledged North Korea-style entity in Britain.

Successful Communist revolutions after WW1 sweep across Europe. Britain manages to hold out due to the Royal Navy, bolstered by support from the US and reactionary exiles from the continent, making an invasion impossible. Over time, as their colonies break away and they become more and more isolated, the British government becomes increasingly totalitarian in order to maintain power. Britain becomes an isolated poverty-stricken hermit state off the coast of Europe propped up by cartoonish levels of repression.
