AHC: Tri-State Personal Union

Here's a challenge: you must have a personal union between the Austrian Empire (Austria-Hungary is allowed, as well as a Danubian Federation, though keep in mind it must be a monarchy), an independent Poland, and an independent Romania by the beginning of the 20th Century. No restrictions on the point of divergence.

Napoleon manages to defeat Austria slightly better in the Italian front, forcing them to recognize the Hungarians, Polish, and Romanians as their equals. With a more nationalist footing, in 1848, Poles, Hungarians, and Romanians arise to rebel. Prussia forces Russia to stand down as they gain a personal union in Hannover due to the convincing Polish nationalist diplomat for Prussia to Hannover, Wenceslas Stanislawski, a man inspired by Napoleon's love for the Poles. He Singlehandedly gained an engagement from Prince Albert of Prussia to Princess Frederica of Hannover when she was born in 1848. The same year, Ernest Augustus abdicated to the 9-year old, whose elder uncle William assumed the role as co-regent with Albert's father Albert. Without Austrian allies, Russia suffers more from Polish rebellions, which eventually are put down before Prussia can intervene. Prussia signs the North German Confederation together after defeating Austria in The War of Independence(1848-1851).

Prussia, increasingly hostile with Russia while improving relations with Austria, leads the German Confederation into war with Russia, defeating them in 1855, one year after declaring war with France and the U. K. Poland becomes independent due to Austrian support, and it joins the new Germano-Polish Confederation in 1861. Austria becomes the head of the Confederation with Polish support, and grants Poland to the Oder line in Prussia along with Austrian Galicia. It is renamed the Austro-Polish Union after Romania is forced to join due to Hungarian threat in 1870. Germany is kicked out with Elsaß-Lothringen and Luxembourg due to revolts. in exchange for an alliance. By 1880, Austria has regained Croatia and Dalmatia, while Romania gains OTL now Hungary and Poland gains Slovakia. In 1900, the Austro-Polish union with Romania enters the 20th century with their Italian and German allies.

Austria intervenes in the Crimean War and after a string of decisive victories in the Danubian Principalities and a new revolt in Poland, gets Maximilian elected as King of Poland while a Habsburg Branch Family rules in Romania.

Franz Joseph dies of something, putting Max on the throne of Austria. Poland is largely a constitutional Monarchy at this point, so they let Max remain as a largely symbolic King while the Polish Sjem retains a de-jure and largely de-facto independent government, economy, and military, albeit one that is strong influenced by Austria and obviously allied to them.

Whoever was placed on the throne of Romania dies in an attempted Pro-Russian Coup, and the Habsburg Loyalists in Romania elect Maximilian as King of Romania to guarantee an Austrian Intervention on their side.

And thus Max is King or Emperor of pretty much all of Eastern Europe.

Except Southeastern Europe.

This is a good one.
