AHC: 'Third Way' Australia

I'm not talking about the ALP's 'economic rationalism' stuff, but instead an Australia (or a part of it, anyway) which embraced a 'third way' ideology at some point in its history. You can use any sort of POD you want to get one of the following ideologies in power:

  • Syndicalism
  • Distributism
  • Georgism
  • Mutualism
  • Fourierism
  • National Bolshevism

Man, I interpreted "third way" as "non-aligned". One could easily see a move towards isolationism after the horrors of WWII (particularly if there was more fighting on the mainland and the Aussies felt abandoned by the Commonwealth). An anti-nuke stance (similar to NZ) breaks off relations with the US, followed by a shift to Republicanism and an anti-establishment "screw your bleeding cold war" attitude among the general population. Not sure where it goes from there. BTW, I'm being deliberately vague here as I don't know Aussie history well enough to suggest a plausible POD.

That's cool too

Australia followed a Third Way of sorts even in OTL: Alcoholism.
Oi, you taek that hic back you bludy wanker!

Not enough possible third ways IMO:

  • Anarchism
  • Fascism
  • Enlightened absolutism
  • Theocratic monarchism
  • Tribalism
  • Monastic order
Really, the possibilities are endless!

Centre Party comes to power, or a BUF knock off in the wake of a British loss in WWI? I think that's plausible, I'm not sure how the Centre Party would come to power, but if it could that could be close enough to Fascism.

Perhaps there is some dispute in Britain and maybe even a brief civil war, one member of the Royal Family escapes to Australia where he claims the throne. He then eventually establishes a Royal Dictatorship, which seems fairly "third way" to me.
