AHC: The Worst Possible 90s

Ignore what I wrote. I mentioned earlier to @Gorrister that I recalled seeing prominent parent groups coming on television and making a crusade against "corrupting the minds of the youth", which were largely attributed to these three artists. Most of those self-righteous campaigns ended after they died. Another reason might be, if they live on, their work won't be as appreciated as it is now.

Elvis did just fine and he got just as much crap as any of these guys.

As for there career's Tupac and Biggie would be legends regardless though they'd have there up's and down's like any other artists. I mean look at Paul McCartney, he's still regarded as a icon, rightly and he's made some stinkers. Cobain is hard to say, his career was really just starting and he had a very self destructive attitude so minimum you'd need him to kick the drugs and not have a negative view on fame. He did for sure gain from his death at such a young age as other grunge bands were doing better before the suicide. And as others have mentioned this may butterfly the Foo Fighters.

A couple of PoDs in Latin America.

Have Chavez's 1992 coup attempt succeed. In response the US launches an intervention to restore the government. This results in Venezuela descending into a short and brutal civil war which the anti-coup forces win due to US military support. However, the brutality of the civil war, the government never fully abandoning its civil war footing and using the opportunity to pass far-reaching neoliberal reforms results in a long-running anti-government guerilla insurgency. Due to the instability elections are suspended and the US expeditionary forces have to remain in order to prop up the government, which ends up alienating more Venezuelans who see the government as a US backed puppet. The US is now stuck in a quagmire that will only get more unpopular as time goes on but can't pull out of for fear of destabilising the region.

Have the Chiapas Conflict escalate into a full-scale Mexican Civil War. The US intervenes on the government's behalf and the same sort of problems in the Venezuela scenario play out except that the violence also extends north of the border to the Hispanic community, both as a result of intra-communal violence between pro and anti intervention groups and due to anti-intervention Mexican-Americans and Mexican insurgents attacking military and symbolic targets within the US. This in turn inflames and exacerbates ethnic and racial tensions within the US.
