AHC: The Three Presidents?

Hopefully not to complicated, but basically (in US history) would it be possible to have a U.S. administration that includes not one but two ex-Presidents?

I'm thinking a sort of co-Presidency as suggested by Gerald Ford IOTL and also including another ex-President as either a part of the cabinet or maybe a major military position (in a war situation)?

The first I could think of is (with some changes, obviously) have President Jefferson, with John Adams as part of his cabinet (Sec State?), and George Washington in command of the US Army during some sort of major war.

Thoughts?

Probably impossible given OTL Presidents and the fact that American Presidential Administrations almost never include notable members of the other party. Most of the time there are not enough living ex-presidents of the incumbent party young and healthy enough (and unsullied by scandal) to take a role in a new administration. Perhaps if Gore won in 2000 he would offer Bubba Secretary of State and would convince Jimmy Carter, despite his age, to accept Sec of Housing. Alternatively Bush 43 could have opted for a government of National Unity after 9/11 and offered posts to Clinton and Carter (and Pappy too).
When FDR opted for this strategy priro to WWII the only lving ex-President was Hoover, who he despised, so his Republicans were Knox and Stimson. Technically Garfield or Arthur could have added Grant and Hayes but not going to happen given the dynamics of the Gilded Age GOP. Technically Monroe could have added Jefferson and Madison, but these gentlemen wanted to retire to their plantations and were of advanced age for that time.

Lincoln had a number of unsuitable candidates.

Buchanan -- NO!!!

Pierce -- Northern Democrat, but anti-abolition. Probably unacceptable.

Fillmore -- Too moderate, opposed Lincoln's policies.

Tyler -- A delegate to the Provisional Confederate Congress (?!).

van Buren -- Extremely ill.

Tyler and van Buren both died in 1862, so there's that.

I can see John Quincy Adams becoming Secretary of State again in an Anti-Masonic or Whig Presidency... and maybe James Madison could be given some important, if honorary, position before his death in 1836?

Before, July 4, 1826, John Q. Adams had 5 former presidents, his dad, John Adams, Jefferson, Madison and Monroe.

William H. Harrison could offer a job to John Q. Adams.

If Nixon was elected president in 1960, he could offer a job to Dwight D. Eisenhower and Herbert Hoover.

When George W. Bush, was inaugurated in 2001 there were 6 former presidents. Ford, Carter, Reagan, his father, George H.W. Bush and Clinton.

Obama could have had Bill Clinton, serve along side, Hilary in his cabinet as well as Jimmy Carter. He could also incorporate having two former vice presidents in his cabinet Al Gore and Walter Mondale
