AHC: The Greek War of Independence...

During the Greek War of Independence, how much territory could the Greeks realistically capture from the Ottomans, if they wanted to? Could they take Constantinople?

The Greek revolt was successful mostly because the grand powers intervened and destroyed the Ottoman and the Egyptian fleets. Unless the grand powers suddenly decide to carve the Ottomans up (which is unlikely) the Greeks wont get any further. 1878 and 1897, especially with more grand power support could have the Greeks get more (if they actually win, they were defeated 1897). Constantinople was the capital of the Ottoman Empire and had a majority turk/muslim population at the time, taking it from the Ottomans was beyond Russia, a grand power, so I have a hard time seeing the Greeks doing it.

The Greeks could realisticly control only Morea and some islands in the Southern Aegean. Constantinople is impossible for the Greeks to get.

In OTL, Greece was created due to Great Power Intervention. Without it, the rebellion is likely to fail or reduce to Morea in a Serbia alike principality.

Without GP support, it’s entirely possible the Egyptian plan to depopulate the Morea and replace the natives with Egyptians goes through...

Direct depopulation is rather hard with Nicholas I or any other Russian Czar keeping a close eye there. But populating the depopulated parts of Morea as result of war with Egyptians is not out of question. The Greeks will remain in the region but new settlers will come.
