That means you have to cast Clint as Michael, doesn't it?
Something else: what about the music? Nino Rota's theme was iconic; suppose it's somebody more like John Caper, Jr.?

Not Clint; by that time, he and Leone had fallen out. So had Eli Wallach, which is pretty damn sad, as he'd have been a great Tessio.

) Lee van Cleef as Vito?

No, Leone would've gotten Morricone to do it; the two were too close not to work together on it.Something else: what about the music? Nino Rota's theme was iconic; suppose it's somebody more like John Caper, Jr.?![]()
Fonda as Vito wouldn't be terrible, nor Beatty as Sonny, & I'd prefer Dustin as Fredo. You're not helping...Stolengood said:Not Clint; by that time, he and Leone had fallen out. So had Eli Wallach, which is pretty damn sad, as he'd have been a great Tessio.![]()
Leone probably would've gone with the studio's suggestion for Michael: Robert Redford. Probably Warren Beatty for Sonny, and Dustin Hoffman for Fredo. Henry Fonda would probably play a major role.
Which means the music is no worse, & might be better. Really not helping...Stolengood said:No, Leone would've gotten Morricone to do it; the two were too close not to work together on it.
