AHC: The Federalists Win a US Presidential Election After 1800

Your challenge is to have the Federalists win a US Presidential election after John Adams' loss in 1800.

I am reviving my own thread rather than starting a new one.

Is there a Federalist who could have been elected President after Adams? Who might have been able to pull it off? John Marshall?

Best bet would be DeWitt Clinton, even if he wasn't a true Federalist. The Federalists need to siphon off moderate, Northern Republicans if they want to win a presidential election post-1800. Come to think of it, Aaron Burr would probably be their best bet in pulling this off, but Hamilton would surely not approve of such an arrangement, and Adams can testify to what happens to Federalists when Hamilton doesn't back them.

In a sense, Federalism did survive IOTL, if not the party. Both Madison and Monroe would co-opt several of the party's platforms during their presidencies, which served to further drive the Federalist Party into irrelevancy.
