During the 13th century, a young nameless boy in Germany began preaching, after being divinely inspired, that he along with a large following of the pius should travel to the Holy Land as a crusade to peacefully convert Muslims who at the time we're in control of Jerusalem and ultimately recapture the city for Christiandom.

Ultimately this young boy gathered some 30,000 followers, most of which were impoverished children, and marched off to the east only to have this "Children's Crusade" destroyed by disease, exhaustion and trechery (many were kidnapped by merchants and sold into slavery).

-----------

So the challenge is to have the Children's crusade instead be successful in sense that they get Jerusalem into hands of a Christian nation.

This could mean reestablishing the House of Jerusalem or just have a western European kingdom regain nominal control of the city.

(Ignore the Christian conversion aspect)
