AHC: Teddy Roosevelt runs for a second term

Runs for a second election I mean. IOTL, TR considered his finishing of McKinley's term to count as one term and felt a 1908 run was against Washington's tradition. Of course he changed his mind in 1912 and ran as the Bull Moose.

So although its a minor thing in terms of writing a TL, is there an obvious way to get Teddy to reconsider 1908?

Easy. Taft outright refuses to run, William Tecumseh Sherman style ("if nominated I will not run, if elected I will not serve", etc.) Taft's major life's ambition was to serve on the Supreme Court anyway, rather than to become President, and Roosevelt had to talk him into it in OTL. With no successor readily in place to take over for him, Roosevelt reluctantly runs again himself.

Meaning again in 1912
