AHC: Taiwan goes full pariah

I'm thinking of a TL where Taiwan goes full pariah/extremist along Israel/North Korea levels, such as:
  • continuing and supporting anti-PRC terrorism
  • genocide and segregation of Taiwanese Aborigines
  • testing of Nuclear weapons
...into the 2010s.
Can this be achieved with a post-1945 POD? (NOTE: KMT still needs to lose the civil war and end up in Taiwan.) If so what is it? Or is this simply impossible?

I don't know much about Taiwan's politics, but could no democratic reform in the 80's do it?

Hardly is enough. At least USA would be OK with dictatorial Taiwan.

Probably best way is that Taiwan goes ultra-nationalist and neo-fascist country which begin genocide its aboriginals. But I don't know how this could happen.

Simple. Chiang Kai-Shek doesn't drop its fascistic tendency after he flees to taiwan..

I'm not exactly sure of how crazy Taiwan would have to go in order to lose US support. This certainly becomes easier after the normalization of US-PRC relations in the 1970s. After that, the Americans started to see communist China much less like a threat and more like a potentially useful tool to counter the influence of the Soviet Union. The RoC could only really seen as useful by the Americans during the 1940s and 50s, when the PRC was not that stable yet and there was still a chance of KMT takeover. After that, I think the only reason why the Americans really kept supporting them to some extent was just because letting the island fall to communism would be bad for their image. However, if the RoC gets really crazy during the 70s and 80s that can give the Americans a good excuse to blur them off. If they have been stockpiling nuclear weapons, though, by that time they'll be able to survive as a rogue state like you intend them to.

Now, the problem is that I don't really see Chiang-kai-shek going that crazy. He knows he has to rely on US support in order to survive and have a chance of retaking the mainland...

They would join the right wing pariah club with South Africa, Rhodesia, Spain, Portugal, Chile and other dictatorships in Latin America, and military juntas of the world. Taiwan could still be at it to this day with nuclear weapons. I can imagine it becoming a right wing version of North Korea.

Is there any post Korean War POD where the USA becomes more isolationist? The United States was willing to turn a blind eye to a lot from its clients as long as they were opposing communist boogymen. With the friendship of the USA, it's hard for Taiwan to become a true pariah.

The communist boogymen was mostly the Soviet Union and it's allies. Not so much China after the 1970s. Also, Taiwan wasn't really that useful in the fight against communism. If anyhting, it was a liability. As I said in my last post, the Americans supported them during the 40s and 50s because they thought they still had a chance of retaking the mainland from the still soviet aligned PRC. After that, the only real reason why they kept providing them with some support was because abandoning them would be for their image.

I think it's not really that hard for the US to disown them if they do something really crazy and get discredited in the eyes of most of the international community.
