With a PoD no sooner than 1648 (Peace of Westphalia), have Switzerland not be a sovereign nation and instead have the land that makes it up IOTL divided among Italy, France, and Germany (or Austria).

If I am not mistaken, legally, Switzerland was part of the titular kingdoms of Germania and Lotharingia, so perhaps split it based upon this. Savoy, Burgundy or some equivalents ruling the sectors related to Lotharingia and the rest remains part of the titular kingdom of Germany and is conglomerated into these lands.

Muammar Gaddafi orders a surprise invasion of Switzerland during the 2010 hostage crisis. Libyan troops occupy Bern, Gaddafi's son is released, and Switzerland is promptly partitioned between her neighbors.

Silliness aside, i think the best period for Switzerland to be dissolved is between the French Revolution and Napoleon's demise as a continental hegemon. As the ideals of revolution, nationalism (mainly linguistic nationalism) and liberalism spread across Europe, it's not unthinkable that Switzerland could be considered a relic of the old international regime, and, thus, a piece of negotiable real estate.

Most likely end of Switzerland would be the country being divided in 1815 at the Vienna Congress. I could see Vaud and the other French Protestant areas being annexed by Neuchatel (Principality in union with Prussia, which will likely be raised to duchy or kingdom), Sardinia getting Valais, Austria taking Graubünden and Tessin, while Württemberg gets the rest (as a kind of buffer) maybe with some border trades with Baden so Württemberg are connected to their Swiss possession.

Any chance for German Wallis being a part of Württemberg?
