AHC: Surviving Song Dynasty

Tip: On that day Mongke Khan died besieging a Song fortress. Kublai, who became the commander after Mongke's death, signed a peace with Song and returned to Mongolia to fight another claimant, Ariq Boke.

Kublai beat Ariq Boqe at the Battle around Dadu.
Ariq Boqe retreat to Chagataid (to Haidu's land) and contact with Song. Song and Ariq/Haidu make allince and attack Kublai and beat him. Song is independent. Ariq Boqe controls Mongolia and North China.
I doubt Mongolia is capable of do major offensive against Song, because Il-Khanate and many Mongol princes would resist Ariq Boqe's rule. He would spend most energy to stabilize his empire.

Abolish the Huizi (the world's first hyper-inflated paper money) and the so-called "money-tablet". Base your currencies on trusty copper and iron-based coins (the cash). the Southern Song might then have a much better chance to buy its own survival.
