How could the Kingdom of Yugoslavia survive to 2017? I figure it would need to federate on some level. Perhaps avoid Nazi occupation. That did a number on the monarchy's survivability. Although a lot of stunts before that hit it's creditability. Ethnic tensions would have to be addressed of course. Maybe assassinate Mussolini?

A more expansive Cvetković-Maček Agreement of 1939 would've helped. Instead of only forming the Banovina of Croatia, two additional administrative units should've been formed - Slovenia (Drava Banovina) and the Serbian Lands (Vrbas, Drina, Danube, Morava, Vardar and Zeta Banovinas + City of Belgrade). That kind of "trialistic" reorganization (which was actually sought by many politicians from Serbia who argued that the agreement in its current form gave too much autonomy to Croats) would've helped calm the three biggest ethnic groups of the country.

Although Bosnian Muslims and Macedonians would oppose it they shouldn't form much of a problem, due to their small numbers and relative lack of influence.
