AHC: Surviving German monarchy with an Entente victory

Have Germany decide to sue for peace earlier. The German commanders knew the Spring Offensive was their last real chance for victory. If they'd asked for a cease-fire and requested peace terms as soon as it had become clear it has failed rather than waiting until after the Hundred Days offensive, they'd be in a much better negotiating position.

The two big advantages of this for the Kaiser would be:

  1. Germany could obtain milder terms from the Allies, mitigating the post-war political situation.
  2. The German Revolution started out with a revolt by Kriegsmarine sailors when the HSF was ordered to sortie in late October 1918. An earlier cease-fire would mean no sailors' revolt, so the revolution would need a different trigger if it were to happen at all.

I doubt the Entente would accept a negotiated peace after the US entered the war. They weren't interested in such before that, even though it made no sense, why would they decide to negotiate after their victory became completely assured?

It's not that hard, Ebert wanted a constitutional monarchy after the Kaiser abdicated but his hand was forced by a fearful Scheidemann who declared a Republic to assauge the radicals.

The same reasons they negotiated IOTL:

  1. The cost of war has been ruinous on both sides. Britain and France aren't far behind Germany in terms of being on the brink of not being able to fight. Continuing hostilities when Germany's suing for peace would cost more blood and treasure.
  2. The Entente advantage at this point depends on American involvement, and Wilson wants to negotiate.
The resulting peace treaty would still be a major Entente victory, just not quite as harsh as the OTL Versailles treaty.
