AHC: Surviving Batavian Republic

The problem with the Batavian republic is that it was basicly a French puppet state, so assuming revolutionary France or Napoleon gets defeated, the allies will certainly replace its government with the Orange-Nassaus. So yo have a continued Batavian Republic, you need either a surviving revolutionairy France or a succesful Napoleon. The last one is hardly a garantee, as he replaced the Batavian republic with the kingdom of Holland.

Another way is to completely discredit the Orange-Nassua's somehow, so that after the wars the allies don't want them reinstated as rulers of the Netherlands. Not sure if that would do the trick, as they allies were pretty anti-republic, but there is noone else with any claim to the Netherlands.

I figured it was impossible, but all I was wondering is if Napoleon had died before becoming Emperor, what would France look like?

I am not saying it is impossible, it is just relatively hard. If you butterfly away napoleon and have Britain, Prussia, etc. make peace with revolutionary France you could have a surviving Batavian republic (possibly including the Cape Colony btw). It probably will remain a French puppetstate for a while, but most likely will become an independent country after some years, especially if other countries, like Britain or Prussia try to move them away from France. It could work (they could promise them the territory the Netherlands lost to France, like Limburg and Dutch Flanders, or various trade or colonial boons). You do need a more stable system than the Batavian Republic had.
