AHC: Spread the Armenian alphabet

Just as it says on the tin -- have it be used for other languages besides Armenian. Restrictions: no PODs before the invention/implementation of the alphabet in Armenia.

Some thoughts: Armenia was the first country to officially convert to Christianity. Perhaps this status, as the world's first Christian nation, could have something to do with the Armenian alphabet spreading?

Not sure about making the Armenian alphabet really popular, but I suppose an earlier establishment of an Alanic state in the Bosphorus could adopt the Armenian alphabet by the time Armenia accepts Christianity.

Some speaker of an alphabetless language is goes to Armenia, learns alphabet, and uses it to write his/her own language, albeit with a few modifications. This becomes permanent.

Alternatively, Armenia becomes a powerful country and takes over all of the Caucasus/Anatolia. All conquered territory uses the Armenian alphabet.

Hmm, maybe have a turkic group come through that area and be converted by Armenians at some point. I honestly have no good ideas, but this would be too much fun to pass up.

Some notes:
1) Armenian is NOT an Iranic group. While the origines of Armenian language and people are not that clear to me, the consensus is surely AGAINST any identification with any Iranian group of peoples.
Of course, Armenian has a very remarkable Iranian INFLUENCE.
2) Armenian alphabet DID somewhat spread IOTL. It is sort of the basis of the Georgian alphabet and, if I'm not confused, the Aghvanian one.

3) Armenian alphabet is finely tuned to Armenian phonetics. This means that Georgian (that most likely derives from it in some way) had to adapt its set to the point of becoming basically a different alphabet. Early Armenian writing used to be quite phonetic.
Of course, Armenian writing CAN be adapted to other languanges and I guess it was done to some extent in OTL at times. But I hardly see this system (for how good it was) spreading much beyond the Caucasus areas and a (maybe large) cluster of somewhat nearby areas.

Or have Armenian Methodius's and Cyrils use Armenian script to write the language of Caucasian and Central Asian tribes that they convert.

Good point. If Armenia becomes the main Christian country, Armenian can be the main language/alphabet associated with Christianity.

You'd have to deal with the fact that Roman Christians do fine with Greek.

Maybe the Roman Empire never converts, and there's an exodus of Christians to Armenia for some reason?
