AHC: Soviet/U.S. Military cooperation

You challenge is to make the U.S. and the Soviet Union (AFTER WWII :D) allies in a conflict. It could be an insurgency, peacekeeping, or an outright conventional war.

(I know probably there was an example of this on history, but I couldn't find anything)

Iranian embassy crisis following the 1979 revolution spirals completely out of the control. The students seize both the Soviet and American embassies, and at both embassies the guards fight back. The entire embassy staff of both the USA and the USSR is slaughtered. Khomeini's support of the students , rather than in OTL allowing him to push out opposition, emboldens the opposition who sees him as a madman. The nationalists and the remnants of the tudeh band together to try to kick Khomeini out. They fail. The USSR intervenes on behalf of the Tudeh party and as vengeance for the embassy massacre. The USA invades Southern Iran because they aren't willing to start World War III for a nation that just slaughtered its embassy staff. Iraq marches into Iran from the west. US and Soviet Commanders immediately meet in Germany to discuss operational plans and zones of occupation to avoid any accidental exchanges of fire or accidental escalations.

Best I could come up with.

Another would be back to Mao, who in a fit of brilliance tries to invade Vladivostok as well as aiding North Korea. Essentially, once Stalin is out of the way, there are plenty of opportunities for both parties to come to terms. But it's a two way street. And both have to be willing for compromise. Big issues would be in Korea, Vietnam, Iran, Yugoslavia, and Germany. If they can come to agreements over those areas, then you can butterfly away Cuba and Turkey (for the most part).
