AHC: Soviet Indian Ocean Ports

What would be necessary to see the USSR, or a satellite state strongly aligned with it a la Eastern European states, to control Indian Ocean warm-water ports? Bonus points for addition North Sea ports, Mediterranean access. Bukkake award for Atlantic ports.

Didn't the Baltic give them those?

About the Atlantic, if Soviets conquered northern part of Norway around Tromso or Narvik, that could be it.
Albania, while it was in alliance with Soviet Union fitts to request.

Atlantic ports are fairly simple if the USSR commits itself fully to aiding the Popular Front in Spain without counterproductive means (like fostering disunity by murdering Andreu Nin, or promoting PCE commanders who relied on propagandistic set-piece battles, or taking all Spain's gold reserves and causing the peseta to collapse). Then they could win the war, and the Spanish could be grateful enough to provide ports.

Of course involvement on that scale could start WWII early and who knows what would happen then.

South Yemen could provide an excellent Indian Ocean port at Aden.

Not really that much of an improvement over Murmansk is it?

Closer Soviet Ties to Burma/Myanmar or Mozamique for the IO.

Caribbean / Atlantic ports via Cuba (OTL), Grenada, or Venezuela.

Med via Algeria or Syria.

North Sea via Denmark if the Soviets win the race to Denmark or via amphibious invasion at the end of WW II.

The KKE wins the civil war in Greece, giving Soviet access to the Mediterranean. Bonus, this forces Tito to align with the Soviets and contributes to a Communist victory in Italy in 1948. When Nasser seizes power from the British in Egypt, he is more sympathetic to the Soviets and is able to seize the Suez Canal with Soviet assistance in exchange for passage rights for Soviet Navy. Nasser's success inspires similar coups in Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq, creating Arab regimes more closely aligned with the Soviets than IOTL. The MFA which seizes power in Portugal in 1974 is instead of socialist-inspired, actually Communist, and grants Soviet access both in Portugal and in its former African colonies and in Timor Leste. Finally, the Shah in Iran falls to the Tudeh Party which grants direct Soviet access to the Indian Ocean. More importantly the Indian Ocean is now directly contiguous with the Soviet Union.

Do I win the award?

In terms of the Indian Ocean IMO either making Iran a puppet or annexing it as a constituent Republic (well, probably several) is the best bet.

South Yemen could provide an excellent Indian Ocean port at Aden.

The Soviet Pacific Fleet actually did use Aden sporadically throughout the 1970s, mainly as a stop off to supply Ethiopia's Derg regime. However South Yemen had an oddly chummy relationship with the Nasserite North and had a much looser friendship with Moscow than your average communist state mainly because it had a lot less to offer than a friendly regime in say Egypt or Iran.

In my timeline, the Soviets have access to the Mediterranean via their allies in Greece and Turkey. They also gain access to the Indian Ocean when Thailand goes red.

Iran (some of which the Soviets actually occupied for a bit) or India (which they had a close historical relation) would probably be your best bet for Indian Ocean Ports. Direct access to the Atlantic... hmm, well does the North Sea count? Because Soviet control of Denmark and/or Norway would give them free access there.
