What possible points of divergence could cause the gay rights movement to come about sooner and with more success?

Depends -- does TTL still see the emergence of a separate class and category for "homosexuals" in the first place, or could an even earlier PoD preventing this distinction be allowed? (Sort of my current hobbyhorse.)
