AHC: Slavic Scots

Your challenge, with a POD in 500(start of Slavic Great Migration), is to push Slavs into the northern British Isles. Southern Britain is also allowed.

Best chance would probably involve pushing Obotrites a bit further west to the Wadden Sea either around or just after Charlemange (say by primary PoD being failure from the Franks to push as far north), and then keep pushing (secondary pod) so they move across North Sea using the conflict there between the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms and the Viking Raiders, to get a foothold in some relatively remote and unimportant corner of the British Isles.

Scotland is doubtful since the Norwegian Vikings was based in that area, but they might be able to pull off Cornwall and Western Wessex

So the Norwegians were already powerful in Britain during the time?

I can only really think of one plausible way:

For whatever reason, Norwegian Vikings start to utilise a lot of slaves in their economic activities in Scotland. The cheapest option for them is to source slaves from Varangian vikings (of Swedish origin) who acquire slaves from, well, the Slavs in what is now Russia.

These Slavs rebel from the Norwegians, who are too thinly spread to contain them. The result is that the Slav rebels set up their own de-facto state, likely with a lot of autonomous village-based policies, ruled by the rebel leader as the 'High Knez'.

Have to say, the cultural implications of a Scotland with a significant Slavic population would be VERY interesting. Would probably make the most sense to have the Slavs in the Highlands, where they could feasibly outnumber the local clansmen.

By the time the Obotrites would get to Wadden Sea (mid-late 700s) and have built lived there for a generation or so, and come to the conclusion that they had to build a fleet (and learn to build sea worthy ships more critically) the Norwegians have started settleing hard on the Isles north and west of scotland, ready to strike at Scotland at seconds notice
