AHC: Significantly Mestizo Spain; more Spanish America

How can Spain have an at least 20% mestizo minority in the 21st century, while the Americas are at least 50% more Spanish than OTL?

Bonus points if this mostly happens before 1940 (because having wealthy mestizos move to a slightly-alternate prosperous Spain in the days when migration becomes easy, is easy).

Bonus points if Spain has so many mestizos and America is so Spanicized that a Spaniard and an American (continental sense, not national) are indistinguishable.

Avoid the decay in Spanish leadership, possibly follow the plan to create three subordinate kingdoms out of Spanish America.

How about the Spanish losing or not having their rebellious colonies like Northern Philippines, Mindanao and the Mayan lands, I think it would be better for the Spanish Empire to make them not deal with these.

You'd need a much more open minded Spain. And before the 20th century, pretty much nobody's open minded. That percentage of mixed-race South Americans is going to cause a lot of antagnoism no matter what government you get in Madrid, and no matter what century it happens in.

That said: you'd maybe have more luck getting a racially mixed Portugal in the event of some sort of continuation of the Portugal-Brazil union, where the imperial Royal Court remains primarily based in Rio. A Portugal reduced to an economic outpost of the Brazilian Empire would eventually become much more racially mixed.

Amusingly, it happens to Portugal. In Shadowrun, so future... refugees fleeing ex-Brazil, now Amazonià...

You could imagine a similar even in 1900+ with a POD eliminating a certain... frank racism, as pointed, and BAD events in Mexico by example, maybe...

Spain did have a lot of mestizos come in, usually liaisons between the Spanish conquistadors and the daughters/sisters/wives of the old native nobility, who then intermarried onto to the Spanish nobility. That's all you're going to get which doesn't fulfill the requirements of your challenge. Your average mestizo was not going to be very welcomed in the Old World.

As for a more Spanish America, honestly it's as Hispanicized as it could be.
