Perhaps, instead of trying to find the worst possible government of the UK, have there be a hung parliament that can't form a coalition, and a series of weak minority governments which can't control the nation?
Perhaps we should look into far-left ideologies getting into power as well? For example, how about Nepalese Civil War instead of ending with a negotiated peace ends with a Maoist Revolution? Or would that not be very different from what ended up happening OTL?Well, if Golden Shower are getting in Greece, how about Jobbik in Hungary and the Great Romania Party in Romania.
For the ultimate worst ruler of Russia, I recommend Edouard Limonov, of the National Bolsheviks. Putin's never been accused of rape, or being a Nazi or an anti-Semite.
Russia: The Nazbols overthrow the government and set up a Neo-Nazi regime.
I can't see the Nazbol gaining enough support to overthrow the government or gain power through democratic means. They are just too extreme IMO (this is supposed to be dystopian setting, not ASB). But if someone wants to propose a scenario for how they might get into power, I would be interested in hearing it.I thought Zhirinovsky would have been nominated as the worst Russian ruler in this dystopic world.
To expand on this scenario, Maoist Nepal turns into a haven for India's Naxalite insurgents. Then in a scenario where the '08 financial crisis turns into a second Great Depression, the Naxalites get a major upswing in support, with the situation escalating into an Indian Civil War.Perhaps we should look into far-left ideologies getting into power as well? Actually, India's involvement may be "good" if we are building a dystopia. Just imagine:To expand on this scenario, Maoist Nepal turns into a haven for India's Naxalite insurgents. Then in a scenario where the '08 financial crisis turns into a second Great Depression, the Naxalites get a major upswing in support, with the situation escalating into an Indian Civil War.
....But that's kind of verging on ASB territory, since India would probably invade Nepal in such a scenario and do its utmost to crush the revolution in its cradle. Still, it'd be fun to read a TL with a post-Soviet radical left-wing revolution occurring somewhere, plausible or otherwise.
Why would Beijing support the MaoistsActually, India's involvement may be "good" if we are building a dystopia. Just imagine:
Nepal is taken over by Maoists. When Naxalites carry out large-scale attacks in India, Nepal provides them with a refuge and a base from which to work outside India's reach.
The Indian government demands that Nepal hand over the terrorists but Kathmandu refuses. India invades Nepal.
China sees this as an opportunity to bring down their rival down a notch and supports the Nepalese & Naxalites (OTL from what I know PRC supported the Monarchist government over the Maoist rebels during the Nepalese Civil War, but this is a dystopia!). Beijing provides the communists with weapons, military advisors and volunteers (the Neo International Brigades?)
Thus India is stuck fighting a mountainous guerrilla war in the Himalayas against Chinese-backed communists. Pakistan probably gets involved somehow too.
