AHC: Second Constitutional Convention after Civil War

It is apparent that if the U.S. were to have switched constitutions wholesale, that the best time to have done it would have been immediately after the "War of the Rebellion"(a contemporary pro-North title for it). I can personally imagine this being taken seriously by the Republican Congress because they might see the current one as too pro-slavery. This thread is not about why or how it is done, but more what can be done at the time to fix things(including early direct elections for Senators). Given this is the late 19th century, and universal male suffrage is widespread even in the Kaiser's Germany, I imagine the "fear of the masses" element would be quite different and the fact anti-corruption sentiment was big in that era. What can be done for the Presidency(No EC?), Congress(longer terms for the House?), the courts(retirement age at 75 and easier to remove?), the BOR(esp. regarding the Second), and many minor policies like trade policy???
