AHC: Screw the Bourbon monarchy

The Bourbon Monarchy has long been one of the most successful royal houses in Europe. It holds Spain's throne today and has held it for most of the last three centuries(the longest period it wasn't in power was Franco's reign). What can be done to have it lose most of its power and control zero major countries with a POD of the ascension of Francis I of Valois???

Keep the Valois line alive.

Total Napoleonic victory, Joseph stays on the spanish throne.
The only Bourbons left are in Sicily.
Silicy is conquered later or has a revolution.

Wasn't the French Revolution/Napoleonic Wars enough of a screw for ya? They lost France (where their Bourbon king was beheaded), Spain (where their Borbon king was exiled and imprisoned) and their holdings in Italy in a matter of years. Albeit, not permanently, but it was definitely a low point (until then at least)

I agree. It can be screwed a bit more (have Franco violently overthrown and a Third Spanish Republic proclaimed, and have Charlotte of Luxembourg not marry a Bourbon). In such a scenario, there would be no Bourbon monarchy anywhere.

Spain would become even more left wing. The horrors would be unimaginable

Yes. But look what happened to the descendants of Louis XIV during his lifetime: the legal line almost disappeared.

But even with all the deaths, he had two living male descendants survive him - only that one was now king of Spain and had to be excluded from the French succession for political reasons. Still improbable but not quite as crazy as the demise of the Valois.

Actually, Louis had more: he put his children from marquise de Montespan on a line of succession making Duke of Main a serious candidate to the throne (and there also was Count of Toulouse).
