AHC: Scottish Socialist Party the most successful party in Scotland in 2015

Your challenge is to get the Scottish Socialist Party to be the most successful party in Scotland in terms of MPs and MSPs. Bonus points if you can completely switch their position around with the SNP.

Genuinely not going to happen. It's even a bit of a tall order to have them surviving on 2003 levels, since they were already slipping in the polls before Tommy imploded. You see, whereas the SNP can appeal to rural conservatives, urban liberals and radical lefties alike, the SSP is obviously limited in its appeal by its ideology. The SSP is not going to win Moray. It is not even going to sweep Glasgow unless Labour, the Greens and the SNP make themselves unelectable in Scotland, whereas all the SNP needed was for Labour to make itself unelectable.

And that's before you go into personality issues between Fox and Sheridan, and the inevitable fracturing that Trot parties can never wait to engage in.

Easy. After losing WWI, with status quo ante bellum between Germany and the UKand severe conditions imposed upon France, Serbia, and Russia, the UK's economy goes into a tailspin. With general strikes becoming common in the war, but being broken up due to war conditions, the labour movement has a lot of practice. This practice leads to the biggest general strike in the history of Britain. This strike is much harder to crush, since the public opinion is more sympathetic towards labour due to there being no war on. Furthermore, the government and Crown are very discredited by involving themselves in a Continental affair and killing millions of Britain's boys.

The attempted crushing of the strikes fails and leads to civil war. The establishment of a socialist republic in Britain ensues and the Scottish Parliament is dominated by the Scottish Socialist Party, one of the few major parties legal in the Worker's Commonwealth.

Or have them achieve power after the Revolution of '76 ended the British Republic and Scotland became an independent state.
