Throughout the years of the French protectorate, the Husainid dynasty was seriously compromised with its collaboration with the French. It got to the point that despite Muhammad VIII supporting the nationalist movement in the 1950s, it was overthrown a year after independence by Habib Bourguiba declaring a republic.

With a post-1900 POD, save the Tunisian monarchy from being discredited and make the kingdom last to the present day.

One possible answer is for Muhammad VII to either avoid being deposed and replaced by Muhammad VIII or to regain the throne at some point afterwards. WWII offers some potentially interesting scenarios. IIRC the US continued to recognise Vichy as the official French government for some time, if Muhammad VII were to simultaneously declare independence from Vichy and war on the Axis powers he might have a chance of gaining American and British recognition.
