AHC: Save the hats!

How about rather than keeping suits and formal wear bigger, what about making hats far more informal? 19th century you had cheap bowlers and caps worn by blue collar workers and the like. Making baseball caps and equivalents bigger could do it. Maybe have those become an integral part of the counter-culture look of the '60s and '70s like jeans and long hair IOTL.

I was thinking more of keeping formal hats, but having baseball hats be an essential article of attire could be interesting as well. I think part of the problem for keeping hats is said 60's counter-culture, Jeans and long hair became the hippie standard was because they were easy and functional, where as hats are more ornamental in most contexts, and generally associated with "The Man".
