AHC: Russia encompasses all Slavs

Hi there,

In this challenge, using whatever PoD, have Russia (or an analogous state originating in the territory of European Russia, so not Poland-Lithuania or anything like that) encompass all the areas that are today Slavic states. It can have other territory too (Baltics, Hungary etc). Bonus points if such a state has no territory past the Urals. Extra bonus points if it includes the areas of Eastern Germany/Austria that were Slavic for a short period of time, and those areas having never been Germanised.

Russia historically ruled all the East Slavs, and controlled Poland, and the Czechs, Slovaks, and Ruthenians are literally right over the border. The real problem is the South Slavs, who lived geographically highly dispersed from Russia, being separated by Hungary and Romania. For Russia to establish rule over the South Slavs would effectively require her to conquer the Hungarians and the Romanians as well, in addition to all of the above, which is a rather big proposition. And then, there's the fact that such a polity would be hardly stable in the slightest.

Of course, on the other hand, you could argue that the USSR came very close to this, except for the fact that Tito didn't care to work with Stalin. But that's more overlordship, and less direct rule.
