AHC: Romania-wank

Would this be a sufficient Romania-wank in 2012 with a PoD in 13th century during the Arpad anarchy. (this is a rough map so any similarities to OTL borders are superficial)

IMHO, yes. That would be my vote, anyway, geographically more than enough of a wank for Romania considering the relative size of neighboring powers.

Considering the fact that both Wallachia and Moldavia (the two historical Romanian states) were founded in the XIV century, your POD makes the challenge almost impossible.

The only pre-XIV century PODs I can think of are:

- The Romanians (Vlachs, actually, the term "Romanian" didn't existed until much later) somehow manage to overthrow Hungarian rule in Transylvania (it's a long shot I know) transforming the Voivodship of Transylvania into the center of Romanian (Vlach) culture. From this position a Vlach voivode, will establish somekind of Marches in Wallachia and Moldavia. The problem is the Kingdom of Hungary will never let go of Transylvania so easily, and will try to reconquer the region. But even if Transylvania would be reconquered by Hungary, much more earlier founded states in Wallachia and Moldavia could mean a completely different development for Romanian (Vlach) identity.

- The second POD would require the Asen revolt being defeated by the Byzantines and the surviving rebels (many of them being Vlachs) retreating to the North of the Danube, the Asens founding a Vlach state there, instead of the Second Bulgarian Empire, as they did in OTL. Also, let's say the Asen rebellion succeeds, the Second Bulgarian Empire is founded, but somehow the Byzantines reconquer it. Again, the Asens, losing the title of "Tsar of the Bulgarians", retreat to Wallachia, keeping only title of "Tsar of the Vlachs", starting to build an earlier Vlach state.
