AHC: Reverse Colonialism

With a pod of 1492, have the most important colonies of each European empire take over or become the center of the empire.

For example, the United States will control the former British Empire. Ukraine will control the former Russian Empire. Brazil will control the former Portuguese Empire. Indonesia will control the former Dutch empire. And so on. Maps would be nice.

Brazil is actually doable without that much of a stretch. Keep the thrones of Brazil and Portugal in personal union and through the 19th C move closer ad closer to a United Kingdom setup.

With a 1492 POD I guess the Ukraine is kinda doable too. Kiev breaks free of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth somehow and becomes a dominant Russian state...

I'm not sure what the economic incentive would be for an Indonesian or North American state to control the British Isles and the Low Countries though.

Well there's the U.S. stays within the Empire and eventually power shifts to it due to numbers and economics scenario.

If the Imperial Union happened with the UK, then India would be the current center of power of a planet-encircling country that would include Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and Britain.

An issue is that any Russia-sized Ukraine would probably just think of itself as Russia...

A Central Asian Turkic empire the size of Tsarist Russia though, that would be an interesting reversal.

Brazil controling Portugal is easy as has already been pointed out, I find it difficult to imagine any of the others happening except for governments in exile to a nazi Europe. Spain, Belgium, The Netherlands, England or France would never give there colonies that mutch power

I guess you could have a united British Empire. Lets say instead of independence some time earlier recognising that with taxes levied after 7 years war the American colonies get representation. Further colonies also get representation. Lets say India is never fully integrated into the empire being a group of semi independent protectorates (to avoid an Indian empire).

At some point either North American becomes more important than the UK and the capital moves.

US control over the UK is already OTL :D . De jure, though, perhaps with an Imperial Federation that excludes an already independent India, which is already pointed out.
Portugal and Brazil, already pointed out.
Mexico or Peru may become the center of power if the Spanish crown escape there during the Napoleonic wars, then become personal union somehow like in Portugal's case.
Algeria over France is quite difficult, I can only think on a AANW scenario where France becomes devastated, but Free French integration with the local Algerians is successful. So Algeria is the de facto center of power of a reduced French Empire, consisting on France and Algeria, and a few islands.
Ukraine over Russia sounds ASB honestly, as well as Indonesia over Netherlands or Congo over Belgium.

I think for France a more populated French North America has potential to do like Brazil to Portugal, although on a lower scale. It requires higher and earlier population though.

Ill take a go at this I guess.

1) Netherlands get Cape Colony back after Napoleonic Wars. Thousands Dutch continue to emigrate there until some world war breaks out. Netherlands invaded, Dutch government flees to Cape Town but never returns after war ends

2) France is easy. Free France liberates Algeria from Vichy France but Germany forces a stalemate and annexes France on the continent.

3) Belgium, during World War One, during the siege of Antwerp, Belgian army and families of Belgian soldiers are evacuated by the Royal Navy and relocated to the Congo.

4) Oman, happened in otl with the Sultanate of Zanzibar.

5) British, can be done in a few different ways. Personally I think the coolest way is France installs a Catholic on the British throne, Protestant monarch flees to America.
