AHC Return of the workhouse

If anything like a workhouse was to happen again one of the biggest hurdles would be the unions. They would say why should their members be undercut by those who work for 'nothing'. The unoins, in the early 80's were very much against the YTS. I was employed under that, and that got me though the next 20 odd years diong the same kind of job. Also lying in hospital in the mid 80's the very old man, in the next bed, got out of that bed, in the middle of the night, saying I'm not staying in the workhouse anymore.

I can see this possibly being lobbied for in DoD once slavery and peonage(or at least the former!) end in the U.S.....after all, the rightist wingnuts in that country ITTL would want to get their precious free labor somewhere......
