AHC: Restore the Ming!

After the last southern Ming emperor was captured in Burma, can you twist history to restore the last Han dynasty?

The Revolt of the Feudatories.

What needs to happen is the collapse of the Qing - which isn't hard - but also the collapse of the Three Feudatories right after.

That way, the remainders of the southern Ming can pick up the remains of China.

EDIT: Wait, one sec, it might be a bit too late. You'd need a POD earlier that didn't lead to the Kingdom of Tungning, which might bolster the position of loyalists inside the Feudatories and Qing China.

Then you need to make the Feudatories less corrupt and stuff.

I always thought two varieties were interesting:
  1. As ramones said, a rump state in Yunnan-Guizhou. Very defensible, if there are more warlords who want clay they can go deeper into Burma or Thailand.
  2. A surviving Ming state that spreads from Ryukyu to the northern Philippines. Focusing on building a country instead of constantly trying to reinvade one may help.

I highly doubt the 'loyalist' state in Taiwan could be a surviving Ming state.I have always imagined that the Ming Emperors would be little more than puppets under the Zhengs. They had a Ming prince in Taiwan for example, but they never proclaimed him emperor.

If they invested more in state-building on Formosa I'm sure the Zhengs would have the capacity to install the Ming emperors as puppets and continue ruling on.

On the contrary,I think the Zhengs will install one of the 17 Ming princes they have as emperor and then have them abdicate to them to gain legitimacy.Either way, there won't be a surviving Ming.

There were rebels who could ally with Koxinga to Luzon but the Rebels in the Philippines would not give any part of the Philippines to the Chinese, the best thing that Tungning could get is Manila and its nearby areas as a compromise as an exchange in helping crush the Macabebe scouts, getting Manila would mean that the Chinese would make Manila a Chinese city state just like Singapore, the people of Taiwan are weaker and more sparsely populated that is why they were overwhelmed.
