AHC: Republican Party disappears

Within the 20th century, it won't happen completely. The Cold War era US won't tolerate too much political upheaval, and it would be easier for the Republican party to realign itself from within like it did in OTL than for a new political party to build their support level to an extent that they can be ingrained in the law the way the two dominant parties are.
There are too many people who will never want to be part of the Democrat political machine, and their opposition would rather not go through the struggle of building a new party from scratch. It's possible the Republicans wouldn't look anything like they do today, and maybe even go as far as change their name.
This Usage, is Really Starting to Piss me off ...

The Proper Cognate, is Democratic ...

Otherwise, you Sound Like you Have Glenn Beck on Speed-Dial, Ok?

Or, have FDR just be a bit more politically savvy. No budget balancing or Court Packing in '37 means a stronger recovery and more Democratic seat pickups in '38 and subsequently fewer Republicans. It also probably means that parties spring up well to the left of the Democrats and the Democrats drift rightward in the post-New Deal era.

There's going to be a sharp break in '37 regardless of what Roosevelt does with a tiny portion of overall spending in 1935 and 36. The Federal Reserve pursued an extremely contractionary monetary policy by doubling reserve requirements over the same time period and that is the proximate cause of the double dip depression in '37. As long as the Federal Reserve continues to do truly stupid things, they will continue to cause, aggravate, and abet economic downturns.

In order to change that particular snafu, you need to move policy ideas decades in advance of the 1930's backwards, doing the monetary policy equivalent of giving quantum theory to the Victorians.

I think they're working on it right now, actually.

It's just a matter of waiting for the rest of their core electorate (rich and/or bigoted old white people) to die.

That is a horrible thing thing to say. You left out the bible thumper, abortion foes and the homophobic. ;)

I always find it bemusing when people preach against intolerance by being utterly intolerant of opposing views LOL
